SunLiminality is the possibility of transformation, ritual unbecoming. This year’s MusicMaker’s Hacklab, hosted by Peter Kirn of CDM and 2020 co-host Tad Ermitaño, focuses on how performance practice and invention can change the performer—making them someone or something else, making them newly visible, or making them entirely invisible.
The 2020 Hacklab Fellows have worked steadily during the CTM festival week and come together for this finale event to present new and unplanned collaborative performances that remake one another’s onstage roles. Just-created performance designs, interventions, circuits, dance inversions, code, and ideas will be put to the test in front of a live audience as a multidisciplinary group of creative performers share the work they've constructed in relation to the Shapeshifters theme. Expect new work in live musical performance, movement, visuals, and surprises.
The 2020 Hacklab Fellows are: Alexandra Cardenas, Anna Jordan, Ariel William Orah, Bamanya Brian (Afrorack), Francisca Rocha Goncalves, Franka Marlene Foth, Iga świeściak, Ivan Nikolic, Jenna Nicole Wilson, Juan Arminandi, Klemens Kohlweis, Kupalua, Lateef Martin (Abdul Lateef), malu laet, Masha Molokova, Mohamed Gaber, Radhapriya Gupta, Sarah Badr, Sasha Smirnova, Sofia Zafeiriou, sylvia hinz, Thomas Mayer.
Presented with CDM, Nusasonic, and the SHAPE platform, which is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. Funded by the Senate Department of Culture and Europe, and Initiative Musik.
