Liminoid Technology and Aesthetics
The design and emergence of new technologies continuously challenge customs, assumptions, identities, and perspectives, pushing all into liminoid zones of rapid change. The disorienting speed, complexity, and radicality of these technological transformations, as well as their seeming detachment from underlying infrastructures, gesture towards new hallucinatory and psychedelic aesthetics. How can we penetrate this vortex to find agency, and to build realistic and informed relationships with technology? How might new distortions, power structures, and ideologies be revealed? How can we, amidst ever-shifting terrain, hold on to a socially and politically grounded compass while imagining better futures? Liminoid Technology and Aesthetics considers these forces at work.
CTM's Transfer programme supports the festival’s vast musical scope. Transfer takes place at Kunstquartier Bethanien and other venues, and ties together the Discourse series of talks, panels, workshops and screenings; the collaborative MusicMakers Hacklab; several public networking events including the Research Networking Day created together with UdK, GMM, and Humboldt University; and the Interstitial Spaces exhibition.
Transfer is funded by Initiative Musik, Senate Department of Culture and Europe, and Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (Federal Government Agency for Civic Education).
