WedBerlin Current artists Shapednoise and Kobosil will take the decks this Wednesday in a Berlin edition of Boiler Room, the underground dance music show broadcasting parties live to thousands of international viewers. CTM Festival’s Berlin Current initiative presents unconventional and experimental music from young Berlin-based artists, in a collaboration with Boiler Room Berlin, Berghain, De:Bug, and BLN.fm.
Repitch label head Shapednoise began experimenting with sound design and industrial techno while studying audio engineering at SAE Institute in Milan. His solo debut, containing the genetic imprints of cyberpunk, harsh noise, vintage electronica, and EBM, is out now on limited-edition cassette via Dominick Fernow’s (aka Prurient/Vatican Shadow) Hospital Productions. Shapednoise also collaborates with enigmatic producer Violet Poison as Violetshaped.
Kobosil is the ambiguous personality of an unnamed 22-year-old Neukölln native, oriented within the signature Ostgut aesthetic of impeccably produced, punishing techno. Kobosil follows his debut 12” EP, RK3, with a second unnamed autumn 2013 release on Ostgut’s Unterton label.
The two Berlin Current artists will perform alongside the EBM and industrial-inflected techno of French producer and DJ, Terrence Fixmer, Ostgut artist Answer Code Request, and Italian alchemists Dadub.
All Boiler Room events are invite-only, but listeners are invited to tune in for the live stream starting at 18h GMT via: boilerroom.tv/session/boiler-room-berlin-terence-fixmer-dadub-shapednoise-kobosil-answer-code-request/. Individual sets will be available in the Boiler Room archive following the event.
Berlin Current is a collaborative initiative from CTM Festival, Berghain, Boiler Room Berlin, BLN.FM, De-Bug, and ICAS. Sponsored by the Musicboard Berlin.
