Objekt
[UK/DE]
Adventures in machine music built to make subs rattle and feet wiggle; a convoluted mess of elektrology and teknology, 3-step, bass-core, post windmill, proto-minimal wankstep, gondola, shithouse, acid wonk, no more, no less. Constructed by tj hertz in berlin.
The introductory statement on Objekt’s website gives an immediate impression of a producer with a keen ear for finely crafted sound. Born in the UK but living in Berlin, Herz has worked as a programmer at Native Instruments for several years, all the while experimenting and honing his own sound until he felt 100% ready to unleash his first tracks onto the world. Such careful, patient perfectionism led to stunning feedback for ‘Tinderbox’ / ‘The Goose that Got Away’, his first self-released single in 2011 – with many believing Objekt to be a new moniker of an established producer.
Aside from three self-published singles, Objekt has released original work on groundbreaking label Hessle Audio, and remixes for the likes of Cosmin TRG, Sbtrkt, Call Super, and Radiohead, as well as having a track features on a recent mix CD by Ben UFO. A new Objekt release is scheduled for Autumn 2014 on PAN. With his impressive staggered drums, bassy half-step atmospherics, and expertly prepared samples, Objekt’s techno finds a perfect balance through his impeccable production, without ever losing that rickety techno edge.
