01:30 Mr. Mitch
03:00 Traxman
05:00 Linnéa

A mixture of bass-infused sounds, from trap to grime to hip hop, and a new foray into techno by a footwork pioneer span the evening.

Chicago’s Traxman, one of the longest-serving producers working in footwork, will show another side by letting loose a thundering techno set.

The energizing, au-courant sets of rising Berlin-via-Sweden DJ, Trade resident and Sister network affiliate Linnéa span glossy trap, futuristic grime, R&B, neo-reggaeton and other hybrid styles that challenge the Euro step/touch hegemony.

Diving into future bass hybrids are two Planet Mu signees, UK instrumental grime zealot Mr. Mitch and trap producer Sami Baha, who draws inspiration from Turkish performers such as Ibrahim Tatlises and Muslum Gurses as well as from trap originator DJ Screw and the Atlanta scene.

NON Worldwide member and multidisciplinary artist DJ Lady Lane will spin "everything you can bounce, shake or sway to.

Mr. Mitch is presented with the SHAPE platform, which is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

ARTISTS

Mr. Mitch[UK]

From the first shot of the starting gun, Miles Mitchell's take on instrumental grime, which announced itself with a 2010 self-titled EP and subsequent single, "Senior Bass," has run a few paces ahead of the pack. Boxed co-founder Mr. Mitch cut a pivotal figure in the second coming of grime in London, and today is continuing to drive the genre and the culture around it forward.

Linnéa[DE]

Newcomer Linnéa's energizing, au-courant sets span glossy trap, futuristic grime, R&B, neo-reggaeton and other hybrid styles that challenge the Euro step/touch hegemony. Born in Sweden and currently based in Berlin, Linnea Palmestål has staked out a spot behind decks at TRADE, the monthly party favoring the hi-tech club sounds of Staycore, Janus and the PAN label.

Sami Baha[TR]

Get chopped, glitched and screwed by American-inspired, Turkish-born and London-based producer Sami Baha’s deterritorialized trap. Having broken into the UK bass scene only relatively recently, Sami Baha has already rallied a following with his signature style.

DJ Lady Lane[US]

DJ Lady Lane is the alias of Brooklyn-based Rena Anakwe, an interdisciplinary artist working across graphic design, video and the performing arts who spins "everything you can bounce, shake or sway to." Anakwe holds an MFA from Pace University's Actors Studio Drama School program, where she studied drama and dramatics.

Traxman[US]

West-Side Chicago’s Cornelius Ferguson a.k.a. Traxman ranks among the likes of RP Boo, DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, and DJ PJ as one of the most influential figures in both the history and contemporary life of footwork. His groundbreaking output dates back to releases on Dance Mania records in the nineties, the glory days of ghetto house. He is a member of Rashad and Spinn’s teklife crew and a co-founder of Dance Mania's Geto DJz clique.
