WedDanish electronic pop trio Efterklang joins forces with Finland’s best-known improv drummer Tatu Rönkko for a special programme. Named Liima, the collaboration will have graced only a handful of festivals before coming to CTM in January. Efterklang’s 15-year career in the alchemy of gentle, luminous, and warm pop music is amplified by Rönkko’s versatility as a percussionist.
Colombian native and Berlin resident Lucrecia Dalt’s iridescent, tangly pop will provide a prelude. While highly technical, Dalt’s music maintains a profound emotionality, merging accessible, traditional songwriting with experimental electronics, handcrafted effects and sampling. In addition to several underground releases, she has put forth two albums on L.A.-based Human Ear Music, a label known for backing genre-bending experimentalists Ariel Pink and Julia Holter.
Lucrecia Dalt[CO/DE]
Lucrecia Dalt is a Colombian producer and pop surrealist who deals in restless, cerebral electronics. Trained as a civil engineer with a specialty in geotechnics, Dalt's productions chart the motion of geologic time in fits and bursts, lucidly rendering tensions and disturbance through a combination of acoustic and electronic sound, sampling, and traditional songwriting.
Liima (Tatu Rönkkö & Efterklang)[FI/DK]
Danish indie-pop trio Efterklang have formed a new quartet with Finland’s finest in improvisational percussion, drummer Tatu Rönkkö, for a collaboration dubbed Liima. The project debuted at Finland’s summer Out Festival in 2014. Liima’s dreamy soundscapes float in familiar but distant Efterklang fog complemented by haunted voices and organic percussion that scratch through the exterior of former compositions.
