Festival 2020
Artists
Stage/light designer and installation artist Fred Pommerehn has been active since 1990. As a freelance artist and scenographer, he has spent years creating installations, and working on stage design, lighting, and costumes for theaters, festivals, events, dance theatre, and music productions, as well as cultural education projects.
In April 2017 he created the sets and lights for the world premiere of the new opera Tre Volti at the prestigious Schwetzinger Festspiele. In 2015-2017, he created the installation “Das Stereoskop der Einzelgänger” at the Festival Scenes d’ Europe in Reims France, which was inspired by the text of Juan Rodolfo Wilcock. The piece saw him work together with Ensemble KNM, theatre director Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski, and composer Ana Maria Rodriguez. The formidable installation, made of cardboard boxes, was first explored by the public and then used as a setting for a theatrical concert. In 2016, the project was recreated in Marseille, France, at the theatre National and in Berlin at the Ballhaus Ost. In 2017 a fourth version of the project was installed at the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen in Hannover.
In May 2015, he created the sets and lights for his first collaboration with the theater Strahl in Berlin. The award winning production of The Working Dead was written by Jörg Menke-Peitzmeyer and directed by Jörg Steinberg.
