TueWhat is the role of artists and producers in shaping the future of artificial intelligence in the world? Creative director and curator Estela Oliva joins this year’s Hacklab Inputs programme to talk about this and other creative interventions in machine learning. The 2018 Hacklab mounts a response to artificial intelligence and data culture.
This session will explore some of the common questions and challenges posed by practitioners working in machine learning and related practices. It will offer a deep dive into a selection of innovative artistic projects, which are offering alternative ways to view and interpret human beings and the world around us. The session will conclude by reflecting and debating on the responsibility of and the implications for those involved in the making of these technologies.
Estela Oliva[UK]
Estela Oliva’s work explores the impact of technology and the internet in human behaviour, society and our surroundings. She creates hybrid environments in which the physical and the virtual blend, unfolding narratives and cerebral experiences. These projects come to life in experimental formats as exhibitions, experiential events, installations, web experiments, apps or films.
Ioann Maria[PL/UK]
Ioann Maria is a new media artist, filmmaker, and computer scientist. Ioann’s work is focused on hacktivism, electronic surveillance, computer security, human-machine interaction, and interactive physical systems. In her solo and collaborative projects she explores new methods in real-time audio-visual performance.
