Mina
[UK]
Producer and DJ Mina has been credited with “bringing sunshine to the club.” (FACT) Her sets display an affinity for low-slung rhythms, which can also be heard in her productions for the legendary label Enchufada.
Mina’s DJing career started in smoky basements in Leeds, where she began playing an exciting blend of afrobeats, dancehall, and tropical sounds. She channels her influences from West Africa, the Caribbean, and her native UK, creating an unique take on global club music that earned her a spot on FACT’s ‘Producers to Watch in 2016’ feature. Since, she has gone on to hosting the club night Boko! Boko! in London and DJing regularly for NTS Radio.
In 2016, Mina made her debut outing on the influential Enchufada with the single “Kabala.” A year later, she followed it up with the Sentah EP, which featured her first collaboration with Bryte. From there on, Mina and Bryte delivered the celebrated single “Make Money” on More Time Records, described by Clash as a “cross-pollinat(ion of) UK funky and the emerging electronic sounds from West and southern Africa.”
