Machine Woman
[RU/DE]
Prolific, playful Machine Woman is a self-described “tech-hau$ producer” and “loop packs connoisseur.” She’s known for ecstatic bangers such as “Camile From OHM Makes Me Feel Loved” and “You Give Me Bristol Bass I Give You Bristol Cream.”
The self-taught producer got her start in punk and experimental noise bands. In 2015, she released debut vinyl EP, For Sweden, on Peder Mannerfelt’s eponymous label, before following it up with Genau House on Where To Now?, and the revered When Lobster Comes Home on Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint. She boasts an ability to make a track in five minutes, and runs her own label, Take Away Jazz Records.
Open-minded, and constantly finding joy in mistakes and the unexpected, Machine Woman “transmutes her musical curiosity into wildly varied and experimental electronic music free from simple stratification.” (XLR8R) She’s responsible for refreshingly humorous takes on dance music, as evidenced by track titles, such as “But It Was Like 30 Intros in a Row” (which pokes fun at an angry Facebook review of her set), “oh God I love you Blawan,” and “I Want to Fuck Tech House.”
