Julian Bonequi

Julian Bonequi is a hybrid artist specializing in electroacoustic music and 3D production. As a musician he has performed with the London Improvisers Orchestra, the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra, William Parker, Tarek Atoui and Vagina Dentata Organ and with musicians such as Ute Wassermann, Paal Nilssen-Love, Decibel, Gebrüder Teichmann, Gudrun Gut and Joachim Irmler.
In 2015, Bonequi’s music was launched into space as part of the Australian project Forever Now alongside artists such as Pierre Henry and Mats Gustafsson. As founder and curator of Audition Records [Berlin-Mexico], Bonequi has produced an important collection of experimental releases. He has also acted as guest curator at the Akouphène Festival in Geneva and both Salon Bruit and NK Projekt in Berlin. In Mexico he has worked with the Ex Teresa Museum and the Center of Digital Culture, among others.
Bonequi has taught new media art in Mexico City and masters-level animation courses at the Pompeu Fabra University and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. At the latter he collaborated in research groups about interactive technologies and neuroscience for educational exhibitions and games. Bonequi is currently working on his first 3D opera with the support of the Program for Production and Research in Art and Media at the National Centre for the Arts in Mexico City. At the same time he continues to coordinate the artist-in-residence project organized by his own Audition Records label.
Julian Bonequi appears at CTM through the CTM Radio Lab, an initiative created together with Deutschlandradio Kultur and supported by the ORF Austrian Broadcasting service, SoCCoS Sound of Culture Culture of Sound, and the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
