Tom Dissevelt
[NL]
Thomas (Tom) Dissevelt (1921–1989) was a Dutch composer and musician known as a pioneer in the merging of electronic music and jazz.
Between 1939 and 1944, Dissevelt studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He took over three years in trombone lessons and then went onto study clarinet, music theory, and piano. Some of the earliest electronic recordings were produced in the late 50s and early 60s by Dissevelt and Kid Baltran (Dick Raaijmakers). Their 1957 debut album, Song of the Second Moon, included the groundbreaking electronic composition "Sonik Re-entry." In the early 2000s, Dissevelt was working on a CD overview of Dutch popular and applied electronic music from 1956 to 1966.
