[NL]

Henk Badings (1907-1987) was known for music featuring electronic sounds and the compositional use of tape recorders. He was born to Dutch parents in Java, Indonesia.

Badings left Java for the Netherlands in 1915. After composing in nearly all traditional genres, he began to attract international attention for his electronic music and his pioneering work with tape recording in the 1950s. Many of his works used electronic sounds in combination with conventional instruments. Badings was director of the Royal Conservatory at The Hague from 1941 to 1945.
