Loïc Koutana is a performance artist, model, and producer, also known as part of Brazil's Teto Preto. He also produces solo music under the pseudonym L’Homme Statue.
As part of Teto Preto, Koutana’s contorting body plays a vital role of the visual identity of the group, both live and in their music videos. Their breakout song "Gasolina" focuses on Koutana, who explores the outer limits of São Paulo—from junkyards to underground clubs—and dances in front of police officers occupying the city. Teto Preto’s first album, Pedra Preta, was released in 2018, followed by a series of performances worldwide, showcasing their eye-catching live show.
Recently Koutana has emerged as a solo artist; known as L’Homme Statue, he makes experimental soul that borrows as much from indie as trap and jazz. Single “Bracos/Vela” (2019) was accompanied by a music video by Douglas Bernardt, filmed in Koutana’s apartment that recently caught fire.
At CTM 2020, Koutana collaborates with with Zorka Wollny and NSDOS for “The Ceremony,” and also performs as part of Teto Preto.
