Moscow-based media artist, curator, and educator Helena Nikonole is interested in technological progress and its implications. Embracing hybridity, new aesthetics, the Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence, Nikonole explores technology’s potential opportunities, risks, and dangers.
Nikonole focuses on the implications of new technologies that techno-evangelists and scientists are unable or unlikely to realise. She presents lectures and workshops in the field of Art & Science and Machine Learning in arts at different institutions including Rodchenko Art School (Moscow), Art Laboratory (Berlin), Mutek Festival (Montreal and Tokyo), Institute of Philosophy (Russian Academy of Sciences), and many others. Her work has appeared in exhibitions and festivals such as Out of the Box at Ars Electronica, AI-Music Festival, Open Codes (ZKM, Germany); 101 Mediapoetry Festival (St.Petersburg), and The Wrong biennale.
